A professional team of filmmakers recently came back from India to shoot a set of documentaries about non-violent movements in the country. From the 70's to "Janadesh," the largest non-violent struggle (after Gandhi's) that took place in October 2007, when 25,000 landless farmers walked 350km to march against New Delhi.

The movies are currently being edited, but at the same time the team opened a website to free the documentary's copyright, and to experiment with "funding and licensing" models to apply Creative Commons licences. The idea is that the more people donate to the project, the more freedom the movies achieve, moving along a scale with the CC BY-NC-ND 3.0 and the CC BY-SA 3.0 licences at the two extremes. Look at this freedom gauge to track the progress of donations.

Because the website has recently been launched, the audience is still small, but it grows day-by-day, with some more interest from the Free Culture arena. For example Lawrence Lessig supported the project by being the first online donor.
