So I had to write about the movie screening, but I'm not a movie critic and I think the greatest thing about iSummit is not the actual "program" but the fact that you can meet the real people that make up this community.

So I'll try to be quick, I'll just mention that because of the welcoming drinks the movie screening started a bit late (maybe a tip for next year: don't program anything after drinks ;-) and the interested people that showed up actually got to watch 3 short films and one feature film. I'll talk about them and then go on to the interesting aspect of this story, my conversations with the people that actually created two of the movies.

The short films were nice, two animations: "The Strange Land", a very pretty Japanese animation about paradise and freedom, and "GRIT#1" an interesting abstract video art-type projection. Then we saw "Good Copy, Bad Copy" an exciting feature film about piracy, different people around the world creating and remixing music, and also the world views of those that want to maintain the "status quo" and enforce it... very nicely done. The last short film was actually a remix from the first brazilian feature film licensed under Creative Commons "Cafuné". It was interesting to watch a 16 minute take from a long feature film done by the author himself.

And then to the good part of iSummit, which is the possibility to talk directly to Bruno Viana and Henrik Moltke, authors of "Good copy, Bad copy" and "Cafuné, respectively. I meet then after the screening and invited both to show up at the Putujuci Radio, transmitting directly from the iSummit, right next to the art gallery, on 97.5 FM and streaming on-line too. The radio is fruit of a HrvatskaBrazil exchange involving MMKamp, radiolivre.org, estudiolivre.org, des).(centro and iSummit.

Our conversations were very interesting, and topics ranged from the creation process of the films, future projects, pirate university, free beer and music of course! But why read about it if you can listen to the interviews? So go ahead and download the podcasts and tune in to Putujuci Free Radio, and don't forget to show up to do your own interview bringing some music! The spectrum should be free, if it isn't then resist, speak, shout out what's on your mind! See you at Putujuci Free Radio!
