Gogo presents the Boss of iCommons quiz

During a heated discussion at the iCommons head office (about what to type of biscuit to have with morning tea), Gogo made sure that her opinion was heard. Someone (could it have been Daniela?) murmured that Gogo thinks she is the 'boss of iCommons'. Gogo knows that things should be 'simunye' and is throwing down the gauntlet to the iCommons community.

If you know the correct answers to all the following questions, then Gogo will allow you to publicly answer to the title 'The Boss of iCommons' for the month of October:

1. What does Gogo’s Xhosa name translate to?
2. Who claimed that their English language policy is "Please Relax"?
3. Which of these people is not on the iCommons board: Joi Ito, Heather Ford, Jonathan Zittrain, Tomislav Medak?
4. Which node has the most participants?
5. Who made the movie 'Islands are Good'?
6. What licence does the iCommons Annual use?
7. There were around 350 iCommoners at the Summit '07? How many attended the very first summit?

If you would like to take the test, leave your answers as comments to this article. Gogo will be back on Monday 22 October to give you the correct answers, and to name the next Boss of iCommons!

Hey Gogo,

Nice quiz. I'm putting up a few answers here with due apologies to others for breaking the answers out. It does take the thrill out but I'm also giving others a headstart in beating me for good ! Sigh! :)

1. What does Gogo’s Xhosa name translate to?
Gossip Granny or something like that.

2. Who claimed that their English language policy is "Please Relax"?
Hmmm...I give up.

3. Which of these people is not on the iCommons board: Joi Ito, Heather Ford, Jonathan Zittrain, Tomislav Medak?
Heather, it is. And I'm duly surprised she's not on the board.

4. Which node has the most participants?
This is an easy one. Mention parties and everyone jumps in. It is the Heather and Jimmy 50 parties node.

5. Who made the movie 'Islands are Good'?

Dave Harris. The only sensible guy amongst the whole lot of us who were busy with cameras during the trip, to take the effort to put the video up on YouTube. Thanks Dave.

6. What licence does the iCommons Annual use?

CC BY SA 3.0 ofcourse.
7. There were around 350 iCommoners at the Summit '07? How many attended the very first summit?

Around 100. Dunno the exact number. Too lazy to count the exact folks in this pic http://www.flickr.com/photos/ccsummit/60871323/in/photostream

Hello there dearest Kiruba

Gogo is here to confirm your answers to the quiz. You were very very close indeed, and almost gave me a run for my money, or rather, a run for my big yellow hat and flower tipped pencil...

1. Granny Gossip is my name!
2. Jimmy Wales for Wikipedia (he made this comment in a discussion on the iCommons mailing list).
3. Heather Ford is not on the iCommons board, she's the ED of iCommons.
4. Jimmy and Heather's 50 greatest parties node has the highest number of participants.
5. David Evan Harris made the movie 'Islands are Good'.
6. CC BY-SA 3.0 is the licence for the iCommons Annual.
7. There were 80 people who attended the Summit 05.

Now Kiruba, dear, as you did not answer ALL of the questions I'm afraid I can't hand over the 'boss of iCommons' title to you (quite frankly, I am loathed to do so, only for the sake of iCommons of course, I mean, what would they do without ME? You must know that this is only in the best interests of the organisation!)

However, as you are the only one to have answered the questions, I shall now pronounce you an honourary iCommoner - which means YOU get to choose which biscuits we eat with our tea. Congratulations!

I'm an honorary icommoner! Yayy! (Kiruba gets up on the table and does a victory jig)

Alright now to the difficult task of choosing the biscuits. (Suddenly, I can feel the weight of huge responsibility on my shoulders.) To me, nothing beats the butter biscuits that's available in the tea stalls of Chennai. That's a veiled invitation for you to come down to India to experience our hospitality.
