Arriving at Friday's party one would wonder if this was really the place were all iCommoners would meet to relax and dance after a full day at this year's iSummit. I sure did, given the teenage invasion taking place. Apparently Friday is the day for the teenage party at the club, and this Friday they all showed up as well.

Mistake Mistake's show was cool, but due to the teenage crowd most people did not stay at the club for too long, and decided to go upstairs were the launching of the art exhibition and the "Travelling Free Radio" offered alternatives to the surreal experience bellow.

As a free radio has to be, Putujuci Slobdni Radio has an open mic, and through the night we listened to DJ Simon, experienced a music battle between the resident DJs Alex and Kruno over who had more Brazilian music, and listened to excited free culture activists from Boston cracking it up and shouting out what was on their mind, maybe inspired by the free culture activism panel we had during the day.

Things really heated up and even the cops showed up, forcing the free radio to make their transmitter disappear and further on having to shut down the show...

The spectrum should be free, everyone should have to right to broadcast what's on their mind! Why go after people that are just having fun and listening to music?

Refuse the status quo! Resist! Putujuci Radio 97.5 is back on the air, join us and speak your mind!

Have you thought of doing a HOWTO on free / portable radio?

There is a tradition of unlicensed broadcasting by neighborhood community groups in Boston and it is an important part of the local culture. I wonder if it might be encouraged elsewhere with a little nudge?

That's a brilliant idea, Kevin - there is an interesting history of pirate broadcasting here in South Africa too - in part a hangover from the bad old days of apartheid when broadcasting was all government controlled, and nowadays because most commercial radio in SA is so lousy.
As a way of spreading the ideas of the free culture movement, it could be really helpful.
A luta continua!

Does someone have a video of Mistake Mistake's gig at Lazareti? I was one of those small group of people who withstood the teenage invasion and enjoyed the performance. It would be great to catch the video.
