One of the things that came up for discussion at the iSummit 08 workshop was the idea of a curator to help keep the momentum going throughout and especially after the summit itself. I just came across this post and thought it might be of interest. It is titled "The Digital Curator in Your Future" and was written by Steve Rubel. [ read ]

I'm going to be sending emails and posting here about the programme for the iSummit next year starting from today :) The idea is to get feedback on the wiki as we develop it together - rather than calling for submissions and proposals in the traditional format which often forces things together that don't fit the overall goals of the event.

We have just confirmed the date for next year's iCommons Summit in Sapporo, Japan. It will be held from 30 July to 1 August - with the CCI legal team meeting taking place on the 29th. The venue has been confirmed as the really awesome Sapporo Convention Center. Thanks to the Sapporo City Government for making this happen! [ read ]

The Dome was built for the 2002 Soccer World Cup but it also accommodates baseball and is the... [ read ]

Takemura-san started the local lecture series (supported by Digital Garage) that brought Larry Lessig to Sapporo and led the Mayor of Sapporo to invite us to hold the Summit here in 2008.

The... [ read ]

Here are a bunch of photographs of the first option for the iSummit Concert in Sapporo. Okurayama Ski Jump a wonderful venue on the top of a large hill where the Winter Olympics were held in 1972 in Sapporo. You can ride up to the top of the ski jump and see a wonderful view of Sapporo from the top (and even ski down in all weather if you're good - or crazy - enough) and there is... [ read ]

A key change at iCommons

If you're not part of the iCommons mailing list, take a look at the letter that Heather Ford, Executive Director of iCommons, sent to the list yesterday:

Dear friends,

At the 2 August iCommons Board Meeting, the board decided to make some difficult but necessary changes at iCommons. It has become clear over the past months that our vision for iCommons is different from the... more
