This month we are looking at the theme:
Unpack the meaning in what is the public and what is the private: to quote Allison: how is 'the public' legally constructed in your country? What is the public perception? And then, what is the private: how is this defined and understood in your country?
The second article for this month is a wild card: talk about something that's pertinent to the culture and commons debate in your country. |

Hi guys
So think month, I''ve decided to write about translation and production of Wikipedia content here in South Africa. Just by looking at the numbers, it's pretty evident that the only place real progress is being made (translation-wise at least) is in Afrikaans (even though, proportionally the Afrikaans speaking population is very small). And very little original content is being written in any language. It's fascinating. |

A key change at iCommons
If you're not part of the iCommons mailing list, take a look at the letter that Heather Ford, Executive Director of iCommons, sent to the list yesterday:
Dear friends,
At the 2 August iCommons Board Meeting, the board decided to make some difficult but necessary changes at iCommons. It has become clear over the past months that our vision for iCommons is different from the... more
