The goal of this project is to create a license that would allow the artist to give up the commercial rights to their art to a charity of choice.
Jamison Young Create a website that would enable the artist to build this license. The charity and the type of material the artist would provide would be coded into text. The artist would copy this text to site. [more]

Recording studios (that supported OLPC) might give artists the ability to license "part" of the content that they create in the studio to an OLPC remix music library. In one song there might 20 layers, splitting these layers up and making some available for remix seems like a do-able idea. hafhp Vision is clear

Previuosly it seemed the best idea was for hungry artists to adapt to other organizations. I see the process now differently. Working with company's that deal in distribution of art is not easy. HAFHP looks to be a non-profit.

The Plan.

HAFHP defines its mission.
HAFHP sets up as a non-profit organization.
HAFHP looks for sponsors to back the project.
HAFHP builds a website.

hafhp and Jamendo

Recently I spoke with Laurent Kratz the co-founder and CEO of Jamendo. Laurent mentioned that Jamendo might be interested in the possibility of incorporating a hafhp style license into their system. Much of the music within Jamendo maintains the commercial rights to that content (around 3000 full albums are listed on the Jamendo site that maintain the commercial rights). Nothing... [more]
