iCommons Podcast Episode 7
“Updates on Open Education”
This month we’ll be discussing the Wikipedia Academies that were held in Johannesburg earlier in November, about the newsletter, giving you an update on the plans for next year’s iSummit in Sapporo and you’ll get to meet Rosanne Hack, a new face in the office.

Also, Kerryn McKay interviews Cynthia Jimes, the administrator of the OER Case Study Project node in the second instalment of the News from the Nodes series.

iCommons Podcast Episode 6
“News From The Nodes”
This is the first episode in a new podcast series called News From the Nodes, where we’ll be featuring a different node every month, and chat to the administrator of that node.

In this first episode, we speak to the Queen of the Node, Kerryn McKay, who administers the Local Context, Global Commons node, one of the most active nodes on iCommons.org

iCommons Podcast Episode 5
“A Good Day For Openness in South Africa”
Very quietly, and without much fanfare, the South African Bureau of Standards has aligned itself with open standards, rather than with proprietary software as the norm among South Africans. Paul Jacobson and Andrew Rens were there when it all went down.

iCommons Podcast Episode 4
“A Commons Philosophy”
This month we feature an interview with Jason Van Niekerk, who speaks in more detail about the ideas of Ubuntu and the Commons that he wrote about in his article, Ubuntu and the Value of the Commons.

iCommons Podcast Episode 3
“Want this View?”
In the third podcast episode we meet some of the new faces at iCommons HQ, update our listeners on how the programme, artist in residence and registration for the Summit ‘07 are progressing, and we’ll be playing some very cool tunes from the Brazilian leg of the South Africa-Brazil remix contest.
Songs:
1. Noite de Carnaval by rostro, CC BY-NC-SA 2.5
2. Tudo vem da Africa by luciok, CC BY 2.5
3. Carnaval na Africa by flu, CC BY-NC-SA 2.5

iCommons Podcast Episode 2

“Of Artists and Green Closets”
In this episode, we discuss plans for the iCommons Summit in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from 15-17 June 2007. Daniela Faris explains the new-look artists in residence programme and Rebecca Kahn speaks to last year’s artist in residence Nathaniel Stern, about Dublin, net art and beer. Heather Ford speaks about her hopes for the Commons in 2007 and there’s also a special report from Eva Lutterbuese, who is visiting from the Creative Commons International office, and saving us from piles of paper. If you ever wondered what went on behind the scenes at iCommons, this is where you’ll get to find out.

This month, we’re featuring music from the fantastic ccNetherlands dvd.
Songs:
1. So Far Away by Electric Seaweed, CC BY-NC-SA 2.5

iCommons Podcast Episode 1
“Straight outta Joburg”
The first episode of the iCommons Podcast, straight outta Rosebank! The iCommons team and some guests discuss Open Film and how it was that one man was able to stop worrying, and love the Commons. Also featured is an interview with Whispa, an awfully nice guy and the winner of ccMixter South Africa’s SAfro-Brazil remix contest.
